The Gardens Secret...

Hi all...

Just when you thought it was safe to go outside without melting... another heatwave is about to hit... what better way to cool off is a splash in the pool and a session in your air conditioned craft room... yep, that'll do it!!!

So, today's card is one that I made a week or two ago and didn't get time to photograph... also it was one of those cards that nearly ended up in the bin... but I thought about it and decided to resurrect it..
got out my new awesome Derwent Inktense Pencils to colour... LOVE these little sticks of wonderfulness... mmmm... yumm... and a touch of black embossing powder...

Here it is...

Well time for a cuppa...

Till next time,

Blue Jeans...

Hi all...

I just wanted to say I am totally addicted to paper!!! I confess! What you can do with it will never cease to amaze me...

Whilst trawling through Pinterest, I discovered an awesome (VERY retired) Stampin' Up! Denim background Stamp... oh yes, I simply had to get this one... after much searching I finally found one... thank you Etsy...

I read a tutorial on how to create realistic looking seams and stitching using gel pens & pencils... I also made some shadows using an aqua brush.. then, using the powers of Photoshop, I added 'Happy Birthday' and a birth date to a black & white image of a denim jeans tag... printed it on some brown card... distressed and wet the card, added a bit of ink, & there you have it... a very cool card!! Loved doing this one... Oh... the mind boggles!!!

Here's the card I made & the tags below show how different they look with a bit of TLC distressing...

Well... If you live in Adelaide, buckle down for yet another heat wave... 41 tomorrow!!! AHHHH!!!!

Till next time...

A Stroll Amongst the Trees...

Hi all...

Sorry for the absence of late... we are frantically finishing our house renovations to put it on the market for sale.. one would think I have had enough of painting... one would be wrong... this is 'nice' painting...not just flat walls... add a lovely glass of red... cool breeze... music in the background.. all courtesy of my loving partner & son... (don't know if they think I am too messy to paint inside...) what more do you need...  anyway this is the first of 3 paintings to fill some empty walls... this canvas is 30" x 60 "... yes, nothing like a 'little' canvas! Yesterday when I started I felt like I was outside flying a big square kite because of the wind!!! Not good... today however was perfect painting weather... here's what I came up with... showing the work in progress...

... a lovey sea turtle is going on the next canvas... I will show you when I finish... nothing like a bit of speed painting to fill up gaps on the walls.... not to mention a HUGE canvas...

Till Next time,

Secret Garden...

Hi all...

The card I want to show you today is a quick and easy technique made using sponging, stamping & embossing... quite simple but very effective... first you mask of a the top section of your card with a piece of paper, sponge the background... stamp the next layer and using white embossing powder stamp the top image... add a sentiment, & there you have it.. very simple but so effective...

I used the Stampin' Up! Secret Garden Stamp Set for the flowers & Morning Meadow for the sentiment... & I used Cajun Craze, Old Olive & Crushed Curry ink... if you wish to buy either stamp set.. click on 'Shop Now'...

If you are living in Adelaide...buckle down for a week of HOT days ahead... 43 degrees... that's just ridiculous!!! Its a good thing I have an air conditioner in my craft room... what a shame I have to go to work... mmm....

Paint Chip Books...

Hi all...

Quite often when I go to Bunnings... I tend to venture into the paint isle and ogle over the paint chips... ohh... soooo pretty... they are way to pretty to be just used to match colours to paint your house... well... I knew people did heaps of crafty things with these, so I decided to 'Google' to get a bit of inspiration... oh, I sooo love to 'Google'...

Anyway, I came across these cute little books using a whole paint chip card and were bound... they looked cute but a bit plain, so I decided to give them a bit of lovin' and add some white embossed flowers... bound them with my newly purchased Zutter Bind it All... (awesome new toy...) and was thrilled with the results... look out Bunnings... I will be back for more paint chips... I thought these would make cute little note books for your bag...

Each little book used one paint chip cut in half (only because I didn't have 2 of each) but quite liked the size... and the stamp set I used on these is the Stampin' Up! Morning Meadow...

Its funny when I come across new things... it makes you look at all your supplies in a new light... I'm thinking about all my stamps... mmm... think I may need some more embossing powder to... mmm...

Anyway... that it from me for now...

Project Life...

Hi all...

Well... its now official...
'My name is Deb... & I'm a craftaholic...' yes its true...
I am a sucker for the latest 'Craft trend...' It doesn't help  me working in a craft shop... mmm... its a worry...

Anyway, I've decided to get on the whole 'Project Life' bandwagon... its the latest thing for the time poor scrapbooker... mmm... that would be me... with all the card making, smash booking, & housework (YUCK) etc. etc. there is not a lot of time left to do the more fussy elaborate scrapbook pages... so this is the perfect solution... LOVE IT!!! Quick, easy & soooo much fun... print photos, trim the corners, slide them in the pockets, journal and there you have it.... a well documented album full of awesome photos and the all important story.  I am using the coordinating coloured Stampin' Up! Markers for all the journaling... they are perfect for the job!

As we are moving house this year, I thought it would be fun to document the whole thing... warts & all!! I swear I was a toad in a past life as we have been dealt a million warts!!! As the old saying goes... what doesn't kill you makes you stronger... mmm... I should have HUGE muscles then!!! How does that work...

I will give you little snippets as the year goes by so stay tuned...
Here is a little of what the whole fuss is about...

This is what you get in the core pack... lots of cool cards to journal on or simply slide in an empty sleeve... this is called the Kraft Edition.. had a nice vintage feel to it...

This is the first page as suggested by them... and some of the cards... how easy is this!!!!

I will keep you posted as I do some pages...

Till next time

In case you missed it...
