Birds of a Feather...

Hi all...
its been a while since I last popped in to say hello... I have been busy painting, playing and doing 'yummy' things in my studio... so I thought it was time to start sharing some of the bits I have been creating....

These little 'Feathered' watercolour pics were done using our new Dr. Ph Martin Hydrus liquid Watercolours... LOVE these!!! Very intense and awesome to use... so I spent the afternoon painting... when I get around to it I will turn them all into cards...

Well... that's it for now...
More coming soon...

  1. These feathers are just DIVINE!!!! I have a question. Do you wet the area of your feather first and then drop in the paint? wet on wet? You were able to keep such a beautiful and distinct line down the middle of the feather. But you didn't use masking fluid did you? I just love your art. It makes me so happy. Thank you for sharing your art and talent with us. ;) Donna

    1. Hi Donna.. thanks for your lovely comment... :) The main part of the feathers were painted with water making sure I left the line in the middle... didn't use masking fluid.. and then dropping the watercolour on top... the Hydrus watercolors are amazing!!! Very intense colour so you only need a drop or two... while I still had paint on my brush (Aqua brush) I added the last few little feathery bits if they needed them.. then flicked a few added drops of colour... I have started to make these into gift cards... I tend to get a bit obsessive when things feel good to paint... or make... mmm.. its a good and a bad thing... not enough hours in the day for all the good things in life... there is a pesky thing called work that gets in the way... mind you I do work in a art & craft store so its even worse to be surrounded by the things you love and not able to 'play'... thanks for stopping by for a visit...
